In March 2014, provenance researchers working in libraries in Germany and Austria joined forces to form the “Provenance Research and Restitution – Libraries Working Group”. This working group meets twice a year to exchange information, and develops proposals for implementing the concerns of libraries in connection with the search for Nazi loot. It is open to all interested scholars and librarians working in this field.

During the period between two meetings, the exchange between participants takes place via the communication portal of the German Lost Art Foundation (DZK portal, field: provenance research in libraries) and via the “APR-Bib” mailing list.

In May 2017, the German Library Association commission “Provenance Research and Provenance Indexing” took over the responsibility for the establishment of an office for the working group.
