Restitutions

One of the main objectives of the search for Nazi loot and Nazi spoils is to return the books and other objects that have been identified. The basis for this is, in particular, the Common Declaration of the federal government, the federal states and the municipal umbrella organisations on finding and returning Nazi-confiscated cultural heritage, especially the cultural assets confiscated from Jewish property dated 14th December 1999, which calls on all German museums, archives and libraries to search for works of Nazi looted art in their collections, to document and publish such cases, and to restitute the property.

The restitution carried out by the SLUB has been documented here in detail.
